Tuesday, November 11 is Veterans Day, the date of the signing of the armistice in 1918 which led to the conclusion of the First World War. The following November, President Woodrow Wilson set aside November 11 as Armistice Day to commemorate the service of the veterans of that Great War. In 1954, the holiday was changed to Veterans Day to honor all American military veterans.
Students of military history of have wealth of resources at the Stony Brook University Libraries for their research. In addition to the strong collection of books on military history, researchers have access to databases such as the Military & Government Collection and Historical Abstracts. In addition, librarians have prepared subject guides on the topics of History, Government Documents & Information, Primary Sources, and News Sources, all of which help direct researchers to more information.
