On October 6, 2025, Special Collection and University Archives participated in the LGBTQ+ History Month opening celebration in the Student Activities Center, showcasing a selection of unique archival materials celebrating local and campus LGBTQ+ history. The display featured items from the Long Island Pride Parade Collection including newsletters, pins, and T-shirts that highlight the vibrant history of Pride on Long Island. In addition, materials from our university’s own LGBTQ+ history were on view, offering a look into the stories and contributions of our campus community over the years. This event provided a wonderful opportunity to share and celebrate the rich legacy of LGBTQ+ activism, pride, and community engagement – both locally and within our university.
