Calling graduate/PhD students OR those who have recently completed a graduate/terminal degree, from SBU & beyond:
Are you looking for a fellowship opportunity in a multidisciplinary research role that can combine humanities, history, political science, public policy, international relations and/or journalism, communications or filmmaking with library special collections and archives and museum-quality interactive exhibits? Have we got a deal for YOU!
We are seeking applicants for the inaugural Senator Jacob K. Javits Graduate Research Fellow and we are accepting applications until October 15th. Candidates do not have to be enrolled at SBU but must be in the Long Island/NYC metro area. Successful candidates will have superb writing and communication abilities and a knack for storytelling along with experience in visual media. The fellow will help author content for our online digital exhibit and an upcoming physical interactive exhibit to be displayed on campus and potentially at the Javits Center in NYC.
From the official posting on our website:
Stony Brook University Libraries invites applications for the position of Research Fellow for a one-year term beginning in Fall 2021. This is a grant-funded, graduate fellow researcher position. It provides a $10,000 award to conduct historical research and actively participate in library projects focused on the life of Senator Jacob K. Javits with an emphasis on his legacy of bipartisan political leadership and legislation.
The research fellow is expected to perform scholarly research and contribute to projects centered on Senator Javits’ life and political legacy. Most importantly, the Research Fellow will help craft written narratives and develop interactive exhibitions using archival sources drawn from the Senator Jacob K. Javits Collection. The Jacob K. and Marian B. Javits Foundation is funding this grant award as part of a two-year initiative to culminate in an interactive, physical and/or digital exhibition.
