Documentary filmmakers at SBU Libraries

Japanese documentary filmmakers visited SBU’s Melville Library on April 15 in order to examine and film original documents from Shoreham Nuclear Power Plant’s emergency evacuation plan. Their documentary  concerns Japan’s Fukushimi Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant which suffered damage as a result of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. By examining the documents in SBU LibrariesShoreham collection, the filmmakers hope to draw parallels between the safety plans and public sentiment in both surrounding communities. SBU LibrariesShoreham collection is part of its larger government documents collection, housed on the second floor of the North Reading Room of the Melville Library.
