On March 24th, Dr. Paul Firbas (Associate Professor in the Department of Hispanic Languages and Literature) presented his research on the history and circulation of newssheets in early modern Lima. With his research team, Dr. Firbas has created digital maps representing the circulation and content of the first newspaper in the Americas. This engaging, interactive talk was well attended by faculty and students. Light refreshments, for a reception held after the talk on the second floor mezzanine of Melville Library, were generously sponsored by the Stony Brook University History Department.
