Congratulations to Hojun Son, University Libraries’ AI Research Scientist, on receiving a SUNY AI Platform Research Award for his proposal, A Multimodal Memex: A Context-Driven Platform for Historical Newspaper Exploration. The award provides access to SUNY AI Platform resources on Google Cloud to support this innovative research.
Using Stony Brook University’s The Statesman and a corpus of more than 50,000 newspaper manuscripts, Hojun will investigate how the diverse content in historical newspapers can be integrated, represented and explored through multimodal AI approaches. His work aims to enhance understanding of historical content while improving search, discovery and access to these valuable archival resources.
Additionally, he was selected for the IITG CoP Community of Practice (CoP) on AI & Academic Integrity.
Many congrats Hojun, on this outstanding achievement!
