Special Collections Welcomes AIM 100 Students!

This week, we were delighted to welcome students enrolled in Alec Lurie’s section of AIM 100, who will be beginning college this fall at Stony Brook, for a visit to the library’s Special Collections.

During their visit, students built on their coursework by exploring the local and national history of espionage in Stony Brook and Setauket during the American Revolution. Through an original George Washington letter, they learned about the region’s connection to the Culper Spy Ring and the vital role local residents played in gathering intelligence, along with how the library curates its historical collections.

Thank you to the students for your thoughtful questions, curiosity, and enthusiasm! Your engagement made for a wonderful discussion, and we hope this introduction to Special Collections inspires you to continue exploring the rich history and unique resources available here as you begin your college journey this fall. We look forward to welcoming you back to the library soon!
