Stony Brook University Libraries is pleased to announce that Mac Nies has joined the Content Management Team in the role of Content Management Specialist!
Mac holds a Bachelor’s of Music in String Performance from Florida State University and a Master’s in Library Science from the University of North Texas. She spent her childhood and early professional life as a classical violinist, and has performed with the Amarillo and Tallahassee Symphonies as well as school and community orchestras. She also trained with violinist Corinne Stillwell, becoming intimately familiar with the needs of performing musicians at all educational and professional levels.
Mac discovered academic library work during an internship at Allen Music Library at FSU, and has since dedicated herself to assisting students and performers in their research. In her role, Mac will be working on cataloging projects for specialized resources like music materials, will contribute to other ongoing projects in the department, and will provide support for the Music Library.
