Stony Brook University Libraries Selected as 2026 Clarivate Library Innovation Awards Finalist

Stony Brook University Libraries is proud to share that we’ve been selected as a North American finalist for the 2026 Clarivate Library Innovation Awards, recognized for our work on SEARCH AI.

The Clarivate Library Innovation Awards recognize innovation, creativity, and real-world impact across academic, national, and public libraries worldwide, with a focus on transformative projects that improve services, technology, community engagement, and operational excellence. The awards were created to spotlight libraries driving positive change and to provide a global platform for showcasing achievements that can inspire peers across the library community. Stony Brook Libraries is one of three North American finalists.

Being named a finalist is a meaningful recognition of Stony Brook University Libraries’ ongoing commitment to innovation and advancing library technologies that improve how our community discovers and uses resources. This nomination places Stony Brook Libraries on a global stage alongside peer institutions doing exceptional work.

SEARCH AI launched in October 2025 as a natural language search enhancement in our library catalog. This allows students, faculty, and researchers to search in plain language, helping to bridge the gap between a user’s intent and the most relevant resources available in our catalog. Since launch, SEARCH AI has been used thousands of times by the Stony Brook community.

We would like to thank our campus community for the support we’ve received thus far, and we invite everyone to try SEARCH AI and share feedback as we continue improving the discovery experience at Stony Brook.
