What’s Your Stony Brook Superpower?

The SBU Libraries is proud to unveil a new mural in our Central Reading Room! This eye-catching piece is the creation of SBU student Marianna Suarez Molina. Marianna was one of the winners of the 2024 ART Tank competition sponsored by the Campus Beautification Committee. Her colorful series of comic book panels, entitled “At Stony Brook We Are All Superheroes!” will inspire students in their studies for years to come. Additional thanks to Kenneth Schaal, Head of Library Operations, for coordinating this project.

(FYI, submissions for ART Tank 2025 are open now.)

This mural joins a growing number of artworks, sculptures, and other projects that have brightened up SBU Libraries spaces on both West and East campus.

To help celebrate Marianna’s work and to highlight her message, we are offering everyone their very own superpower. All you have to do is:

  • Follow @SBULibraries on Instagram
  • Comment on our pinned post about the mural

We’ll reply, awarding you a unique superpower. These range in scope and viability but are yours nonetheless! Current followers have gained the power to shrink to the size of a footnote, restore lost computer files by whistling, and telepathically talk with library plants. What will your power be?
