Article requests just got a little bit easier

We’re excited to introduce a brand new feature of our ILLiad web pages. When submitting an article request, patrons will have the opportunity to use a DOI or PubMed identifier to autofill the request form. A DOI, or Digital Object Identifier, is a simplified and standardized string used to identify scholarly articles. A PubMed ID is a similar identifier that is used in medical research.

If the requested article is available via open access or our existing library subscriptions, a link to download the article will be provided. These changes will streamline the request process and increase discoverability of existing resources.

Thanks to Matthew Hartman and Tim Kohn, who implemented and tested this feature on our ILLiad website.

Questions about resource sharing and interlibrary loan can be sent to ill@stonybrook.edu.
