In the popular Art In Focus Lecture Series tradition, May 2023 brought a new lecture series, The Art of Relationships, sponsored jointly by the Stony Brook University Libraries and the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center. The Art of Relationships lecture series complements the Pollock-Krasner House’s current exhibition, “Creative Exchanges: Artists in Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner’s Address Book.” on view until July 30, 2023. The next four lectures that took place in June are now available on our YouTube channel. The descriptions and links are provided below. It’s not too late to register for the July lectures (the link to register is at the bottom of this post). We hope to see you there!
“. . . Telephone me if you can.” With Alicia G. Longwell.
With those words, the charismatic artist John D. Graham invited Lee Krasner to participate in a 1942 exhibition. Graham also invited Jackson Pollock, a move that brought the two painters together professionally and romantically. Alicia examines Graham’s decisive influence on the burgeoning New York avant-garde. Alicia G. Longwell is the Chief Curator Emerita of The Parrish Art Museum.
