Yesterday our Spring 2023 social media interns hosted a special Pop Up Music Library in the North Reading Room’s Learning Lab. The event was designed to introduce students to the library’s rich music resources and provide a relaxing, alternative space to spend some time.
Interns Nicole Schuppert, Veronica Huang, and Linda Oppong worked with Music Librarian Giselle Schierhorst to assemble materials and design a variety of activities. Looking through the extensive vinyl record collection, they selected a number of albums that were playing during the event, from Georges Bizet’s Carmen to the Beach Boys.
There was also informational material about music library resources and services and a station where students could try out taking their own “album face” photos. The interns also compiled a Spotify playlist of favorite songs of those who attended.
