Stony Brook University Libraries is pleased to announce that the Metadata Research Center in Drexel University’s College of Computing and Informatics named Dana Reijerkerk as a 2023 LIS Education and Data Science Integrated Network Group (LEADING) Fellow. In this remote data science fellowship, Dana will work with the Loretta C. Duckworth Scholars Studio at Temple University Libraries on their project “Enhancing and Visualizing Philadelphia Black Art, Artists, and Representations.” The LEADING program is highly selective and designed for early-to-mid career library and information science (LIS) professionals or doctoral students enrolled in iSchool or American Library Association-accredited LIS programs. LEADING is a Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian (LB21) National Digital Infrastructures and Initiatives project, supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).
Dana Reijerkerk is the Knowledge Management and Digital Assets Librarian where she manages the sum of Stony Brook University Libraries’ organizational knowledge and digital assets. Dana leverages her data science skill sets in her work to connect data analytics with traditional library science domains. In 2019, Dana was appointed to this newly created position, and she is shaping the role into one that connects data science, LIS, and computer science to manage digital assets in our academic research library.
