On April 6, 2021, the University Libraries held a virtual poetry reading in honor of National Poetry Month. Hosted by Lisa Socci, Head of Public Services, participants were invited to read poems they wrote or ones that were meaningful to them. The group discussed the poems and explored how the genre can be an effective creative and emotional outlet. All participants received a University Libraries Swag Bag. They expressed appreciation for the opportunity to share their poetry and to hear the works of others.
This year is the 25th anniversary of National Poetry Month, which was started in April 1996 by the Academy of American Poets to highlight the importance of poetry.
