Michael Huang, Health Sciences Librarian and recent recipient of the honor of Distinguished Librarian, has been selected from a competitive pool of applicants to present to the Distinguished Academy at the upcoming annual meeting. The theme for this year’s meeting is Extraordinary Responsibility: How Distinguished Faculty Give Back to SUNY.
Michael’s presentation; Libraries without Borders: Global Library Initiatives at Stony Brook University, will be given at the 8th meeting of the SUNY Distinguished Academy in Albany NY on June 10th.
The presentation will cover Michael’s work since the 2014 inception of the Office of Global Library Initiatives at Stony Brook University Libraries. He will cover the importance of the strategic plan of the global library initiatives at SBU, collaborations with the Office of Global Affairs, the Global Medical Education, and the Global Health Institute, establishing relationships with research libraries in China and other countries, and cultivating visiting scholar programs.
