Unpaywall is a Chrome and Firefox browser extension that discovers and links to green open access manuscripts of published research and scholarly articles.
Unpaywall taps into content from thousands of open-access repositories worldwide. It utilizes a number of data sources, including PubMed Central, the DOAJ, Crossref (particularly their license info),DataCite, Google Scholar, and BASE. The data is made open for reuse via the oaDOI API: a free and scalable way to leverage data and infrastructure.

How Unpaywall works
Stony Brook University Senate adopted an Open Access Policy on February 6, 2017. The SBU Open Access Policy leverages Green Open Access — the sharing of post peer-review article manuscripts in an open access repository such as the SBU Academic Commons, ArXiv, or PubMed Central.
