HSL Student Employee Honored At Dorothy Award Ceremony

Each semester, one student employee is awarded and honored for their exquisite work ethic within SBU Libraries. Originally known as the Thomas Jefferson Award, this year we proudly announced the Fall 2017 Dorothy Award to Pule Wang from the Health Sciences Library, nominated by River Amin and Christopher Larson. The award presentation took place in the Student Activities Center Room 303 on December 6.

Thank you for those who nominated their students. Each nominee received a Letter of Acknowledgement and a Certificate of Appreciation.

The Fall 2017 Dorothy Award nominees were:

Don-Jun (Billy) Kim, Library Dean’s Office

Jennifer Landi, Interlibrary Loan

Joram Arim Mercado, Health Sciences Library

Shinju (Pearl) Sasanuma, Music Library

Fatoumata Sanogo, Music Library

The Selection Committee consisting of Bee Farina, Arielle Hessler, Chris Sauerwald, Jeanne Quagliata, and chairwoman Pam DiPasquale, carefully evaluated each nominee based on their nomination letters, student bio’s and personally meeting each candidate. It was a difficult choice given that each nominee was exceptional and expressed their dedication to their work at the Libraries in their own unique way. After much deliberation, Pule Wang was chosen to be awarded the Fall 2017 Dorothy Award. Pule received a $1,000 award from the award donor.

Congratulations to our Fall 2017 Dorothy Award recipient and all of our nominees!
