On April 1, Alumni Relations organized a reunion of former and current Statesman staff in celebration of the 60th anniversary of SBU’s first student newspaper. The event featured an exhibition by Special Collections and University Archives, documenting the history of the newspaper, originally founded in 1957 with the name Sucolian (an acronym for State University College on Long Island). View photographs from the reunion here.
The University Archives acquires, preserves, and provides access to materials on the history of Stony Brook University. The Statesman and other university-produced content has been digitized and can be searched on DSpace, the SUNY Digital Repository.
