Mapbox is a digital mapping tool that lets users represent all types of map data. Mapbox has paid options for groups and businesses, but its map-making products are free to individuals and open source on GitHub. The system is very flexible and can be used to create powerful data visualizations, like this educational attainment map.

Mapbox is a great tool and has many interdisciplinary applications, including the digital humanities.
