“Down the Rabbit Hole.” Carroll, Lewis, and Salvador Dalí. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. New York: Maecenas Press, 1969.
This November marks the 150th anniversary of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll (Charles Lutwidge Dodgson).
Located in Special Collections is a limited, oversized portfolio edition (47 cm.) of the literary work. Housed in a custom clamshell box, it features vivid and vibrant illustrations by artist Salvador Dalí. Published in 1969 by Maecenas Press-Random House, 2500 portfolios, numbered 1 to 2500, were printed on Mandeure paper. Each portfolio is signed on the frontispiece by Dalí and contains 12 illustrations with an original remarque on each of these illustrations. Our copy is no. 103.
