Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
(foreign equivalent or higher). Experience working with word processing,
spreadsheet management, electronic messaging and internet applications, e.g.,
Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Apps. Strong customer service experience
in a related customer-focused field (i.e., hospitality, education support).
Must have, keep and maintain the appropriate valid NYS Driver’s License; have a
motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat

Preferred
Qualifications:
Experience working
in a library (academic or public). Experience with integrated library systems
or library services platforms, such as Sierra, Alma, etc.
Brief Description of
Duties:
The position of
Resource Sharing Associate is the branch coordinator for resource sharing
responsible for ADA compliance and maintaining timely and reliable access to
materials across the library system and through interlibrary partnerships. By
coordinating resource sharing workflows, supervising student employees,
managing branch deliveries, and providing scanning and document remediation
services, this staff member ensures that borrowing, lending, and document
delivery requests are supporting circulation operations and maintaining
consistent communication through departmental inbox management, helping the
library meet user needs while upholding accessibility and service standards.
This position will be scheduled at both HSL and the Melville Library. The incumbent
must possess the ability to learn new software applications and learn new
technology.
- Resource Sharing
processing:
- Assist with interlibrary loan (borrowing and lending) and resource sharing request processing in ILLiad, Docline and Alma. Accurately code requests for processing, retrieve and scan items for delivery; assist with packaging of material for shipping; receive items from other lending libraries. Supervise, train and schedule student employees in support of resource sharing and interlibrary loan. Lead the processing of HSL lending requests. Assist with the monitoring of the Resource Sharing departmental inbox, responding to and forwarding emails as necessary. Provide scanning services for the fulfillment of interlibrary loan, ALMA resource sharing, digitization and document delivery requests. Maintain a working knowledge of the Resource Sharing department’s scanners and associated software. Send requested scans to patrons via ALMA, Odyssey, and Article Exchange.
- Branch Coordinator:
- Coordinate the movement of library materials between the Health Sciences Library, Melville Library, other branch libraries, and storage facilities. Maintain a schedule for daily trips to retrieve and deliver materials and complete deliveries as needed. Coordinate with library staff members on branch deliveries.
- Provide scanning services for the fulfillment of interlibrary loan, ALMA resource sharing, digitization and document delivery requests. Maintain a working knowledge of the Resource Sharing department’s scanners and associated software. Send requested scans to patrons via ALMA, Odyssey and Article Exchange.
- Document remediation:
- Assist with the remediation of digital documents to support accessibility and inclusive access. Review documents for accessibility and inclusive access. Review documents for accessibility issues and correct elements using remediation software. Maintain a working knowledge of document remediation tools and best practices to support accessible document delivery.
- Coverage of the Health Sciences Library and other service desks including circulation of library materials, answering library user questions in person and by phone while referring to more complex reference questions to Reference staff. Maintain knowledge of Access Services policies. Maintain appropriate statistics using our library services platform (LSP) program and library analytics tools.
- Maintains technical competency and skills through professional development opportunities. Participate in department and University-wide committees, events, and professional organizations.
- Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

This is a full-time
appointment. FLSA Non Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of
the FLSA.
In addition to the
employee’s base salary, this position is eligible for $4,000 UUP annual
location pay, paid biweekly.
