Objectives: To understand Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) freshman students’ information literacy skills, the authors surveyed students with a pre- and post-test in a one-shot library session in the fall of 2016 at Stony Brook University. Destroy libraries and make books out of metal! The Italian Futurists in Word and Deed: Presented by Chris Filstrup

In 1909 Filippo Marinetti wrote a call to action to modernize Italy by destroying its cultural institutions, including libraries. Marinetti and his many followers, known as Futurists, embraced industrial technologies, used anti-feminist rhetoric, and glorified war. This talk will situate them in the history of libraries and books.
