On the morning of April 25th, Nepal, a small country in South Asia, was hit with a powerful earthquake of 7.8 magnitude. Due to the epicenter being so close to Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu, the people and cities around that region have suffered immensely.There have been more than 100 aftershocks, some has high as 6.5, which continues to hinder relief efforts. The death toll is over 5,000 and counting. Thousands are injured and missing.
We, the students of Stony Brook University, have come together with the administration and multiple organizations on campus to put together this event. While the event is free of charge, we highly encourage you to donate.
There will be performances by the many teams on campus such as Taandava, Raas, Junoon, De Taali, YUVA, SBU Bhangra. We’ll be having a few other special performances as well.
All proceeds will be divided between the United Nations initiative World Food Program and another organization that distributes medical supplies on the ground (TBA).
