Yizhou Lu
Yizhou Lu is an associate librarian, responsible for providing audiovisual services to faculty and students at Shanghai Normal University Library in Shanghai, China. She has held this position since 2004. Ms. Lu has published a number of articles in peer-reviewed journals, such as Library and Information Service, Library Journal, and Library Construction. She earned a bachelor’s degree in library science from Northeast Normal University in Changchun, China in 2004 before earning her master’s degree in art theory of radio and television from Shanghai Normal University in Shanghai, China in 2010. Ms. Lu is a visiting scholar at Stony Brook University Libraries from June 2018 – July 2018.
Qian Xu
Qian Xu received a Bachelor of Science Degree from East China Normal University in Shanghai, China in 1992 and Master of Management from the same institute in 2003. Currently, Qian is Associate Director at Shanghai Ocean University Library, Shanghai, China. She is responsible for overseeing library daily operations, including resources construction, user service, and special projects. Qian has published over a dozen articles in peer-reviewed journals. She participated in the Chinese Librarians Summer Program hosted by University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2014. Qian visited Stony Brook University Libraries as a visiting scholar from November 1, 2017 to April 30, 2018.
Ning Jia
Ning Jia has been a subject librarian at Shanghai Normal University Library in Shanghai, China since 2007, serving as the liaison to the Department of Advertising. She has published several articles in Library Journal, Advertising Panorama, and other peer-reviewed journals. She holds a Bachelor’s in Chinese Language and Literature and Master’s in Communication Studies from Shanghai Normal University. Ning visited Stony Brook University Libraries as a visiting scholar in June 2017.
Ying Cai
Ying Cai has been a Chinese Language Cataloger at the Department of Resource Data Collection, Shanghai Normal University Library, Shanghai, China since 2014. She was a reference librarian at the User Services Department from July 2008 to December 2013. Her job duties included: answer reference inquiries in the Foreign Language Publications Reading Room, search and retrieve information, plan and conduct various reading promotion activities, and contribute to collection development. Ms. Ying Cai received a bachelor’s degree in English teaching in 2005 and a master’s degree in linguistics and applied linguistics in 2008 from the Foreign Languages Department of Shanghai Normal University. She has published a number of articles and translated The New Creative Artist written by Nita Leland from English to Chinese published by the Shanghai People’s Fine Arts Publishing House in 2012. Ying visited Stony Brook University Libraries as a visiting scholar in June 2016.
Long Zhao
Long Zhao is an ancient documents librarian at Shanghai Normal University Library, Shanghai, China. He has held this position since July 2010. He visited the Stony Brook University Libraries as a visiting scholar in June 2015.
His research areas focus on Song Dynasty history and ancient documents. His credentials include three published books and nine articles. Dr. Zhao earned a BA in history from Fuyan Normal College in Anhui, China, MA and PhD in history from Shanghai Normal University.
Dr. Xiaolin Nong
Dr. Xiaolin Nong is a Professor in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department at the College of Stomatology, and Vice Provost of Guangxi Medical University, Nanning, China. She was an Associate Director of Guangxi Medical University Library from 2009 to 2013. From June 2004 to February 2006, she was a postdoctoral scholar in the Head and Neck Surgery Department at the MD Anderson Cancer Center of University of Texas. Dr. Nong visited Stony Brook University Libraries as a visiting scholar from December 2013 to January 2015. She was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of General Dentistry in the School of Dental Medicine, Stony Brook University in September 2014.
Her expertise is in oral & maxillofacial surgery and clinical dentistry. Her research areas focus on biomarkers screening, cellular characteristics, biomedical informatics, in vitro examination and in vivo modeling of oral and maxillofacial cancer, resistance of oral cancer to chemo-drug and reversing of chemo-resistance by traditional Chinese herb extraction. Skin scar animal models and skin scar inhibiting medications are some of her greatest interests.
As chair of the Office of Education at her dental school, she is very enthusiastic about teaching and education. Dr. Nong has extensive experience in administration, assessment, and research on medical education. Her efforts in education management and research led to a number of grants and awards to her college and herself. The courses she has taught in her home institution include Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral Pharmacology, Dentistry English, Stomatology, Biomedical Literature, Medical Informatics and Literature Retrieval. Her educational research interest has extended to evaluation and development of informatics literacy and information techniques, critical thinking, clinical operative skill and professionalism in students, and training and utilization of standardized patients.
Her credentials include 82 publications, a number of research grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Guangxi State Government, research awards from the Guangxi State Government and teaching and educational awards from the Guangxi Medical University. She is a board member of the Society of Oral Biomedicine of the Chinese Stomatological Association, and serves on the editorial board of the journal Oral Biomedicine. She is a member of the China Dental Association and the Chinese Medical Association.
She received a PhD from the School of Stomatology of Western China University of Medical Science (1999), a MS specializing in oral and maxillofacial surgery from Guangxi Medical University, Nanning, China (1996), and a DDS from the College of Stomatology of Guangxi Medical University (1991).

Lixia Zhang
Lixia Zhang is an associate librarian in Dalian University of Technology, Dalian, China. She visited Stony Brook University Libraries as a visiting scholar from February 2013 to August 2013 sponsored by a grant from China Scholarship Council.
Her research interests focus on subject-oriented and knowledge-based services, digital humanities, resources with special characteristics, and information commons. She has published 15 papers in the Journal of Library Science, Journal of Academic Libraries, and other peer-reviewed publications.
Her educational background includes a BA in English (1995) and MA in Education (2006) from Dalian University of Technology.
Cheng Tang
Cheng Tang is a reference librarian in Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai, China. He visited Stony Brook University Libraries as a visiting scholar in June 2013.
His research interests focus on scientific and sustaining collection development and value-added library services. His publications appear in Document, Information & Knowledge and Journal of Library. He made a presentation titled “The education of Chinese for librarianship” to the International Relations Round Table of the Library Association of City University of New York held at CUNY Baruch College on June 20, 2013. Mr. Tang was a recipient of National Scholarship (Second Class) awarded by the Ministry of Education of P. R. China (2003 and 2004).
He earned a BA in Library Science from Northeast Normal University, Changchun, Jilin Province, China in 2004. He is a candidate for the MA in Religious Studies from Shanghai Normal University (expected in 2015).
Lingyun Ma
Lingyun Ma is an associate research librarian at Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai, China. She visited Stony Brook University Libraries as a visiting scholar in July 2014.
Her research interests focus on subject librarianship, embedded librarianship, and digital database evaluation. She has published six papers in Library Theory and Practice, and Document, Information & Knowledge and other peer-reviewed journals. She received the Excellent Librarian Award from Shanghai Normal University Library in 2012.
She holds a BA and MA in Archive Management from the School of Information Management of Wuhan University, Wuhan, China. She is a doctoral candidate in Religious Studies at the Institute of Chinese Traditional Thoughts of Shanghai Normal University (expected in 2015).
