The Stony Brook University Libraries Center for Scholarly Communication provides expertise, information and resources to scholars and researchers: in meeting grants funders’ public access mandates (NIH, NSF, etc.); for leveraging author’s copyright; for discovering quality, impactful, peer-review scholarship and research (including open access journals); for effectively preserving and sharing research data; for accessing and contributing to the SBU open access scholarly repository, Academic Commons; and in understanding the SBU Open Access Policy.
Internship with the Center is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting our instruction, collection-building and outreach initiatives, including:
-
Assisting in program planning and coordination, specifically our annual Open Access Symposium
-
Supporting instructional and outreach sessions
-
Building collections and inputing content in the Academic Commons
-
Discovering and sharing information about new resources and scholarly communication initiatives on the library blog
Interns will also have opportunities to participate in myriad other library activities, such as reference services and departmental meetings. The internship is a flexible 10 to 20 hours per week.
