Healthy Libraries Program Intern

Volunteer Opportunity for the Stony Brook Medicine Healthy Libraries Program

Are you a Masters in Library Science student? Are you interested in gaining practical hands-on experience in a public library? Would you like to work with other students, patrons, and library staff, connecting them to reliable resources and information?  If you answered yes to these questions, then you should consider the Library Science Internship with Stony Brook Medicine Healthy Libraries Program (HeLP)

We seek one library science student to join an interprofessional team of students from Nursing, Public Health, Social Work, and Physician Assistant disciplines to provide health information and social support resources in public libraries throughout Suffolk County. This unique opportunity offers invaluable experience in collaborative practice on an interprofessional team, interacting with patrons, and participating in public library culture.

This is a part-time, unpaid position that requires no more than 10 hours per week for the Spring 2026 semester. This internship could be credit-bearing towards your current Library Science Program in participating Universities. To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to have reliable transportation to public libraries throughout Suffolk County.

The Healthy Libraries Program runs in the Spring and Fall semesters.  If you are interested or have any additional questions, please contact Sunny Chung at sunny.chung@stonybrook.edu.
