Our Four-Legged Friends

Our therapy dog events are always the happiest of the year. We held two last week, one at the library on our Southampton campus and one in the Melville Library on West campus. Between the two locations we welcomed eight dogs and over 400 students through SBU’s Counseling and Psychological Services and their “Pet Away Life Stress” program.

Students were able to spend time with these specially-trained dogs and their handlers, learning about each breed and experiencing each canine’s unique personality. And although wait times varied, everyone who stopped by was able to take time out of their busy, end-of-semester schedule, and find some stress relief.

Keep on the lookout for next semester’s therapy dog events at both libraries and good luck on all of your final projects!
