Special Interest Group Membership: A Project for the MLA Rising Star Program

At the MLA Annual Meeting in Seattle, this year’s four Rising Star Program participants will be presenting their research on topics relating to MLA’s sections and Special Interest Groups. Gregg Stevens will be presenting on his assessment of SIG membership, as well as proposing recommendations to improve SIG membership and participation.
Digital Literacy: Determining Credibility in an Evolving Information Age!

How should we as teachers, information professionals, and engaged citizens respond to fake news? This colloquium will explore the ways we have responded in our content and course integrated information literacy sessions and facilitate a discussion to generate ideas for how we might extend this practice across all areas of the library. Today our students need to be engaged on multiple levels to better understand and adapt to the evolving digital landscape through which most of their information is accessed. This session will help us use our information fluency to help combat fake news in our daily work.
