Jay Levenson, an Interlibrary Loan clerk in the Access Services department at the Stony Brook University Libraries, is the recipient of a Presidential Mini Grant for the Departmental Diversity Initiative for his proposal to develop programming on Native American heritage! Jay’s proposal includes designing an online video game that will educate users about Native American culture and history as well as current issues. A part of the grant will also be used to develop a program to celebrate Native American Heritage Month in November. Native American drummers and dancers will be invited to perform and there will be a lecture series on Native American topics.
Jay is of Eastern European and Mohawk descent. He has a BA in Individual Studies with a concentration in Native American Studies from Empire State College. Congratulations Jay!
