The inaugural lecture in the SBU Libraries STEM Speakers Series presented by Dr. Sotirios Mamalis, Department of Mechanical Engineering was held on Wednesday, September 14 in the Special Collections Seminar room, second floor of the Melville Library. An audience of 37, including students, faculty, staff, and the local community, attended the event.
Dr. Mamalis engaged the audience and spoke about the history of international combustion engines, current engine technology at different scales and applications, and the research that he and his lab are conducting to advance engine technology to the next level. After the talk, Dr. Mamalis fielded questions from the audience. Overall, the University Libraries’ first STEM Speakers Series presentation was a great success.
