Date: 02/13/2020

Time: 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

Location
Special Collections Seminar Room

Description

In honor of Love Your Data Week 2020 (February 10 – February 14), the University Libraries welcomes faculty, students, and staff to an introductory workshop to data science using R, Rstudio, and the Tidyverse. These tools can empower data visualization, data manipulation and transformation, and data-oriented programming for research and business.

Participants are asked to bring their own laptops with R and R Studio downloaded. Instructions for downloading R are available at https://cran.r-project.org/. Instructions for downloading R Studio are available on the R Studio website. Participants will use R Studio Cloud during the workshop. A limited number of laptops will be available to enable participation for those who cannot bring their own device.

Preceding the workshop is a talk on addressing the lack of diversity in data science and data-savvy careers; registration separate.

This workshop is taught by Jonathan O. Cain, Interim Director of Digital Strategies at the University of Oregon, trained Tidyverse trainer, and certified Data Carpentry instructor.

It is co-sponsored with Adelphi University Libraries and Adelphi University FCPE.
