Art of the Violin Opens Its Concert Season

Violin Professor Jennifer Frautschi’s talented students gave a thrilling concert in the Library’s Galleria yesterday. It was the first of several to be offered this academic year.

Carina Yee, violin and Jihae Yun, piano, performed Arnold Schoenberg’s Phantasy, Op. 47 (1949), and Memory Games (2011) by Avner Dorman.
Roni Shitrit, violin and Izem Gurer, piano, performed the Caprice d’après l’étude en forme de valse, Op. 52 (1901) by Camille Saint-Saëns.
Hudson Chung performed Johann Sebastian Bach’s Chaconne, from his Partita No. 2 for Solo Violin, BWV 1004 (1720).
Tong Chen, violin and Sunmi Han, piano, performed the first movement, “Moderato,” from Sergei Prokofiev’s Sonata for Violin and Piano in D major, Op. 94a (1943).
The program concluded with Da Young (Rachel) Lim, violin and Kevin Kyaw, piano, performing Benjamin Britten’s Suite for Violin and Piano, Op. 6 (1934-1935).

Many thanks to the performers, to Professor Frautschi for coordinating, and to the library’s staff volunteers for the setup and breakdown of the concert: Madison Jacobellis, Ahmad Pratama, Victor Santiago, Victoria Pilato, Susan Connelly, Rebecca Lukachinski, and Letizia Morley. Thanks also to the Music Department’s piano technician, Tom Malenich, for tuning the piano. The next scheduled performance is November 12th.
