On Thursday, October 7, 2021, a small number of students and librarians gathered in the North Reading Room for a discussion of the One Book One Community book selection, Charles Yu’s Interior Chinatown. The gathering was both an opportunity to discuss passages and themes from the text and a chance to exchange reactions and experiences of Yu’s October 6 visit to campus. Some participants arrived with fully marked-up copies of the book, and others came only with a hope to learn more about it and eventually read it themselves. All walked away with appreciation for the opportunity share ideas and excitement about Interior Chinatown and Yu’s inspirational visit!
Read about this and other One Book One Community events in Michelle Chen’s article for The Statesman, “‘Interior Chinatown:’ National Book Award winner Charles Yu discusses writing for Hollywood” (October 24, 2021).
