Description

Please join the University Libraries for a panel in celebration of National Poetry Month.  This event will foster a discussion of poetry as a mode of expression, and of the relationship between that expression (format, content, etc.) and other elements of the human experience (culture, history, other forms of art).  Panelists will read/meditate on poetry as a means of addressing the human experience, particularly the ways in which poetry is uniquely capable of speaking to this experience. Discussion to follow. The panel will include talks by:

 

Dr. Dan Moran, (B.S. Biology 1979),  former Poet Laureate of Suffolk County

 

Dr. Peter Manning, Professor of English, Stony Brook University

 

Star Black, Poet and faculty member in the Stony Brook University MFA Program  

 

Mindy Kronenberg, Poet, Professor of Writing, Literature, and Arts at SUNY Empire State College, Editor of Book/Mark Quarterly Review, and author of three books, most recently the poetry collection, Open

 

This event will be held in Stony Brook University University’s Melville Library, in the Central Reading Room, on April 10th 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM.
