Dr. Offit’s lecture, You Bet Your Life: The Long, Risky History of Medical Innovation, is open to all and will be held in the Wang Center Theater 20th September 2021 3:00-4:00pm with a live stream available.
Paul Offit M.D. Director of the Vaccine Education Center at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia will be the 2021 Anotnija Prelec Visiting Scholar. Dr. Offit is a frequent contributor to NPR and has written several best-selling books including, “Do You Believe in Magic? Vitamins, Supplements, and All Things Natural: A Look Behind the Curtain” and “Bad Advice: Or Why Celebrities, Politicians, and Activists Aren’t Your Best Source of Health Information.”
The Antonija Prelec Memorial Fund was established in honor of Antonija (Toni) Prelec by her family, friends and colleagues at the Health Sciences Center (HSC) of Stony Brook University. The purpose of the fund is to continue Toni’s pursuit of excellence in medical librarianship and to improve the information services provided by the HSC Library.
