This database provides access to centuries of legal records and other documents related to the history of slavery in the United States and in other anglophone areas of the world. Coverage extends into the 20th century.
Other resources for studying the history of slavery include African American Newspapers, 1755-1922, with full-text coverage of more than 135 historic periodicals, and Sabin Americana, 1500-1926, a full-text database inspired by Joseph Sabin’s bibliography of books published in and about the Americas over 400 years.
