Open SUNY Textbooks, an initiative that has been active since 2012 and has saved SUNY students over $840,000, recently announced a new component to its efforts to produce and distribute open educational resources (OER). SUNY OER Services will help support OER initiatives at SUNY campuses by partnering with Lumen Learning to provide resources and a collaborative community for the adoption and development of new open educational resources.
Faculty are able to apply for SUNY OER Services and receive personalized help to get up and running with open education. This is an exciting program and one that will help provide a framework for more and better OER across all SUNY campuses.
