Ball State Achievements is an app created by Ball State University to help improve retention by reinforcing positive behaviors outside of class. The app was inspired by weight loss apps that incentivize small positive changes to help inspire big results. By engaging with the University through academics, athletics, culture, and other areas, students can earn credits they can spend at the University bookstore or Starbucks.
Ball State has reported that the app has had a robust response from students and has helped make academic and social achievements, like getting on the Dean’s List or visiting the campus gym for the first time, more meaningful and tangible for students.
