Data USA is a visualization platform to help regular Americans make sense of government data. The data comes from a variety of sources including the American Community Survey, the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the University of Wisconsin County Health Rankings, and the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System. The visualizations on the site are compelling and interactive, users can toggle between different measures on a map of the United states or explore a tree map of degree-granting institutions in different occupations.
Data USA is a solid application for teaching and learning, especially for generating research questions and exploring occupations and education options. It has many uses, from general civic engagement to serious research.
