Graduate students from Professor Jennifer Frautschi’s violin studio delighted listeners with a marvelous program in the Library’s Galleria on December 4. The challenging repertory included excerpts from Gabriel Fauré’s Sonata for Violin and Piano ; J.S. Bach’s Sonata No. 2 in A minor for Solo Violin, BWV 1003 ; W.A. Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 4 in D Major, K. 218 ; Antonin Dvořák’s String Quartet No. 14 in A-flat Major, op. 105 ; concluding with Bach’s Sonata No. 1 in G Minor for Solo Violin, BWV 1001. Our thanks to Prof. Frautschi for coordinating and to performers Rachel Lee Zhao, Tong Chen, Shaqi Yang, Da Young (Rachel) Lim, and Brunilda Myftaray, violins ; Muli Yu and Shu Wen Tay, piano ; Lukas Shrout, viola ; and Noah Koh, cello. Thank you to the many library staff and faculty who assisted with the setup and breakdown for the concert. Happy and Healthy Holidays to all–we look forward to the Spring 2025 semester’s Art of the Violin!
