Stony Brook University Emergency Management
UPDATE 2/8 11:00 am:
MASIC will close at 1:00 PM, Friday, February 8.
Due to the severe winter weather expected for Saturday, February 9th, 2013, all classes will be cancelled.
This applies to Stony Brook main campus, SB Southampton and SB Manhattan campuses and includes the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, School of Health Technology & Management, School of Social Welfare, and the Dental School. Students with clinical obligations should make every effort to attend rotations and contact their clinical coordinators with any questions or concerns. The University Medical Center and the Long Island State Veterans Home will remain open.
Please note that only the Governor of New York State can close state offices, agencies, and campuses. When offices are open, employees are expected to report to work. During emergencies non-essential employees may request supervisory approval to charge their accruals when offices are open. Essential employees must report in accordance with their schedules. Please also note, University Hospital and the Long Island State Veterans Home employees are all deemed ‘essential’ and therefore must report to work.
In the case of rapidly deteriorating weather conditions, which can occur during the work day, an employee who wishes to leave early must secure supervisory approval, and charge this time to appropriate accruals.
The University Police Office of Emergency Management is continuing to monitor multiple weather forecasts and will provide further updates and other cancellations as necessary.
Please continue to monitor the SB Alert page for event cancellations and schedule adjustments at www.stonybrook.edu/emergency/
