Recently, several international postal services have announced they will suspend shipments to the United States of goods valued under $800 starting August 29, 2025. This change directly affects our ability to lend and borrow materials from our international partners through our interlibrary loan (ILL) service and several of our partner libraries have informed us they are suspending service to American libraries.
At this time, the affected countries are Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, and the United Kingdom. As a result, we are temporarily disabling the requesting of physical materials (books, media, etc.) from these countries. Our ILL team will continue to process all eligible requests, but users may notice increased cancellations for physical materials that can only be sourced from affected countries. Digital requests (articles, book chapters, etc.) will still be submitted. When books held internationally are not available, we will allow requesters to select specific chapters that may then be supplied digitally, and provide the table of contents as needed.
We remain committed to providing access to research resources for all our library patrons and will do our best to locate requested materials wherever possible.
