Exciting News: Article Galaxy Scholar Pilot Launching Spring 2025 at Stony Brook University Libraries!

Big things are happening at Stony Brook University Libraries! Starting in the spring of 2025, we’re thrilled to announce the pilot of Article Galaxy Scholar—an innovative article-on-demand service designed to revolutionize your research experience. With this service, you’ll gain immediate access to high-demand journals not currently subscribed to by the Libraries, including those in the Elsevier ScienceDirect package.

Instant Access at Your Fingertips

Here’s how it works: Article records for these journals will be seamlessly integrated into the library catalog. That means, with just a click, you can access the full-text PDF of the articles you need, when you need them—no more waiting!

How Does It Work?

During the pilot phase, access to Article Galaxy Scholar will vary based on user profiles:

Faculty & Graduate Students: Enjoy instant, automatic access! Simply sign in with your NetID, click the article link, and the PDF will be delivered directly to you.
Undergraduate Students: Access will be mediated—but don’t worry, we’ve got your back! Library staff will review requests and approve them if the article can’t be fulfilled through interlibrary loan.

To make the most of this service, we encourage all users to sign in with their NetID when searching the library catalog. This ensures your user profile is recognized and access is granted based on your role.
