Art in Focus Series

 

Stony Brook University Libraries is proud to present the first in a number of events celebrating the arts this year. The Art in Focus lecture series will be launched at the Southampton Campus Library, in the heart of the artistic and cultural world of the East End.

 

The line-up of speakers includes:

 

Sept. 12, 2017 – Susan Davidson and Carol Stringari of the Guggenheim Museum on the conservation of Jackson Pollock’s Alchemy
Sept. 26, 2017 – Charles A. Riley on his new book Free as Gods: How the Jazz Age Reinvented Modernism
Oct. 10, 2017 – Katy Siegel, the Eugene V. and Clare E. Thaw Endowed Chair in Modern American Art at Stony Brook University, on her work at the 2017 Venice Biennale

 

The talks will be held in the Library Lecture Room of the Stony Brook University Library at the Southampton campus. The University Libraries’ Art in Focus Southampton events are co-sponsored by the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center and made possible by support from the John H. Marburger III Fund of Stony Brook University. These events are part of the Libraries’ continuing mission to engage in scholarly, cultural, and artistic interactions with Stony Brook University and the community.
