Constantia Constantinou, Dean of University Libraries, and Kristen Nyitray, Head of Special Collections and University Archives, and University Archivist, were among the guests invited by Assemblyman Steve Englebright for a special meeting with Speaker of the New York State Assembly and SBU graduate, Carl E. Heastie on Wednesday, October 20, 2015.

At Patriot’s Rock in Setauket, Assemblyman Englebright discussed the history of the Three Village Area, and how it is intertwined with Stony Brook University. The acquisition of two letters authored by the George Washington during the American Revolution, part of Special Collections of the University Libraries and made possible with the support of Assemblyman Englebright, document our region’s pivotal role in the founding of the nation. Kristen Nyitray presented Speaker Heastie with facsimiles of these historically important letters.
