Plant Propagation Station

The SBU Libraries is excited to provide our community with plant cuttings through our plant propagation station. Plant propagation is taking pieces – or cuttings – of plants, allowing them to grown roots so they can be planted and become new plants. We have a variety of propagated cuttings available in the Main Stacks.

Benefits of plant propagation
Plant propagation is a great way to encourage people to grow plants in their own homes and spaces. House plants contribute to cleaner air but they can be expensive. The SBU Libraries is happy to be able to share the benefits of our own efforts to provide green spaces in our library with our community.

Plant Propagation Rules
Please take only one cutting of each kind.
Use the paper towels and water pitcher to wrap your cutting.
When you get home, put the cutting in water or dirt.
Only the plants at the Propagation Station are for the taking. Please do not cut our potted plants.
