Description
Explore the fascinating history of Pride through newspapers, t-shirts, buttons, and photos on Wednesday, October 16th, from 12:30-2:00 pm in the North Reading Room Learning Lab. We will be looking at the history of Pride Month and Long Island Pride through historical newspapers, t-shirts, buttons, photos, and flyers, which will be led by SBU Libraries’ Kristen Nyitray, Director of Special Collections and University Archivist. A history of how the SBU LGBTQ* Center was founded will be provided by Maxine Moylan, Assistant Director for Diversity, Intercultural, and Community Engagement.
We will also be creating our own buttons and discussing the graphic novel, Gender Queer: A Memoir by Maia Kobabe. Copies of the graphic novel will be provided courtesy of LGBTQ* Services and Diversity, Intercultural and Community Engagement.
