Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an
attached resume):
Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) and a minimum of
2 years prior work experience are required for this position. In lieu of a
Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or
higher), 4+ years of working experience plus
college level courses are acceptable. Proficiency with Microsoft Office
applications and/or Google applications. Strong customer service experience in
a related customer-focused field (hospitality, education support).
Preferred
Qualifications:
Experience in a library (academic or
public). Experience with an integrated
library system or library services platform (like Sierra or Alma). Supervisory experience.
Brief Description of
Duties:
This position helps process requests
for material through interlibrary loan, document delivery, and reserves
throughout the library system. Assists with interlibrary loan (borrowing and
lending) and document delivery operations to ensure physical and electronic
materials are delivered and received in accordance with established procedures.
Assists with supervision, scheduling and training of student employees to
support these processes; provides training to library staff to support these
processes. Assists with circulation and patron inquiries at service points. The
Resource Sharing Coordinator will possess the ability to learn new software
applications and learn new
technology.
- Assist with the interlibrary loan (borrowing and lending) and resource sharing request processing in ILLiad and Alma. Accurately code requests for processing, retrieve and scan items for delivery; assist with packaging of material for shipping; receive items from other lending libraries. Along with the Senior Assistant Head of Resource Sharing and Director of Access & User Services, supervise, train and schedule student employees in support of resource sharing and interlibrary loan.
- Coverage of the Library Services Desk including circulation of library materials, answering library user questions in person and by phone while referring more complex reference questions to the Reference staff. Maintain knowledge of Access Services policies. Maintain appropriate statistics using the library services platform (LSP) program.
- Assist with the daily operation of the Reserves service for the library including reviewing incoming requests, distributing to appropriate library locations, communicating with the teaching faculty; processing the requests in Alma, scanning and uploading material to Blackboard. The incumbent will be expected to be familiar with copyright restrictions and enforce them. Maintain appropriate statistics.
- Perform special projects – the incumbent may be directed to initiate and carry out special projects related to access services and will be expected to independently plan and carry out these assignments and/or work effectively in teams.
- Professional development and continuing education – attend training, conferences, and workshops designed to enhance knowledge related to the position. Increase knowledge of access services and ways to enhance services at SBU Libraries.
- Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

This is a full-time appointment.
FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
