The chords and melodies of solo violin sonatas, caprices and partitas resonated throughout the hallway of the Library’s Galleria on Wednesday October 16. Seated audience members and passersby enjoyed the performances of Prof. Jennifer Frautschi’s talented graduate students at the Library’s Art of the Violin concert. For a precious hour the virtuosic sounds of selections by Bach, Paganini and Beethoven rose upwards towards the library’s vaulted glass ceiling and to the balconies of the second and third floors. The event concluded with exciting excerpts from a Beethoven piano trio. Our thanks to Professor Frautschi for coordinating and encouraging her students to participate in this series. Thanks also to Eric Tsai, Hudson Ye Hyung Chung, and Tong Chen, violins; Noah Koh, cello, and Shu Wen Tay, piano for sharing their talents with the library community. Additional thanks to Library Dean and Director of Libraries Karim Boughida for his support, Tom Malenich for his care of the Library’s piano and the essential team of library colleagues who volunteer to set up and restore the center of the Galleria for these events.
